International Perfumery Museum
Inauguration of the contemporary art circuit
When The International Perfumery Museum re-opened in 2008 after expansion and restructuring work, it decided to give ‘carte blanche’ to several internationally renowned contemporary artists inviting them to transform spaces inside and outside of the museum. The artists included :
Berdaguer & Péjus, Gérard Collin-Thiébaut, Peter Downsbrough, Brigitte Nahon, Jean-Michel Othoniel and
Dominique Thévenin. Inspired by the world of perfume and the new-look museum, these artists created pieces related to smell and the five senses, luxury and design, glass work and the play of light, industry and materials, adding a new and complementary interest or axis to this museum devoted to the world of perfume.
With the recent installation of Berdaguer & Péjus’s work Jardin d’addiction (The Garden of Addiction) which was created in collaboration with
The Christophs (Christophe Laudamiel and Christophe Hornetz) and the CIRVA-Marseille (International Centre for Research on glass), the International Perfume Museum continues its course of contemporary art.
By offering this course, the International Perfume Museum is part of the territory of contemporary art circuit of the conurbation Pole Azur Provence.
