Le Lavoir
Céleste Boursier-Mougenot, Fisheyedrone

Based on a proposition by Maurice Fréchuret, director of the network of national museums in the Alpes-Maritimes region, the town of Mougins has invited artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot  to invest Le Lavoir (a former wash-house turned exhibition centre) with his installation entitled Fisheyedrone for the summer of 2011.

For this installation, hundreds of goldfish are placed in the wash basins of the space. The goldfish are filmed and their movements are projected and magnified onto a screen that is visible from outside the venue. The fish also create music as their movements are linked to a computer program that generates sound. This installation is typical of the work and concerns of this artist. His propensity to use real-life elements, musical instruments, and animals are all evident here. The fish in this installation create an interesting link between the real and the virtual in that they occupy the same space and time frame. This unusual visual and sound installation linking objects and animals is sure to inspire the visitor to daydream and wonder…
