BEN, Suspense au Windsor
has had a longstanding relationship with the Windsor Hotel. In 1996, the artist decorated one of its rooms (to date, 28 hotel rooms have now been decorated by various artists). A room full of multi-coloured dreams sleeping on the walls. In 2010, Ben participated in a group exhibition entitled Le salon de l’auto (Car fair) with a large-scale work in the hotel restaurant that anticipated the current exhibition. Since the beginning of 2011, the artist has returned to the hotel and is responsible for transforming the third floor corridor. He has also renovated the bedroom he decorated fifteen years ago adding his own unique stamp and Ben style. In this exhibition, Suspense at the Windsor, Ben wants to prove that the hotel business can take on contemporary art.
“Every bedroom is a space of mystery and fantasy.
When you arrive at the hotel, it’s as if you are entering another world,
I like hotels like the ones in films ‘Psycho, The Night Porters, Twin Peaks,
The Red Hotel, The Windsor’.
There will be a corridor where you can see if it’s really you in the mirror.
Room 65 will have an electric blanket and a naked woman on the balcony”.
