Espace A VENDRE et A DÉBATTRE

For summer 2011, the Espace A VENDRE Gallery presents a series of three solo exhibitions of artists living and working on the Côte d’Azur who are represented by the gallery.

Stéphane Steiner
Stéphane Steiner’s work consists in bringing something to those works of art that have moved him, and to highlight the reality (lived or not) of these works’ views and elements. He is not interested in these media for what they are, nor by the works as the results of independent practices by other people, but as a means of communication. Whether it is through the medium of drawing, sculpture or audiovisual art, Steiner incorporates all sorts of elements into his work: belts, underwear, insect infestations, gastropods traces, funereal items, furniture, wigs, cooking, water pipes and even dildos. His work speaks of the futile resistance against that unstoppable, invisible force that creates and destroys everything, including its doppelganger; Life.

Emmanuel Régent, 2010, nébuleuse (étude)

Jérôme Robbe
Echoing his monumental installation at the National Museum Marc Chagall, the artist presents his new works.

Emmanuel Régent
Emmanuel Régent’s work centres round notions of discretion and effacement. For this artist, less is definitely more. This approach allows him to create a discrete art that fits neatly into the world. Expectation, doubt, appearance/disappearance and fragility are some of the leitmotivs that characterize his work.

Thierry Lagalla
The work of the eclectic Thierry Lagalla makes opposites friends: Anecdotal / Historical, Prosaic / Poetic, Figuration / Abstraction, Local / International. He seems “to be” in Heroclitus, the philosopher of Logos. According to this Greek, we never bathe in the same water twice. With this artist, we never bathe. Here, everything escapes us, Hic and Nunc are in a boat, reality always knocks twice, echoes, shifts, falls and rebounds; Re-Re-Re –Representation. Since Rrose Sélavy, this “R” has been wandering, projected by Lagalla, and hasn’t ceased to ricochet, creating on its way, collateral works.
